The Tower
And I’m the only one you won’t betray
You tell me all the lies you tell to your own face
And I can’t meet your eyes, because I’m too afraid
Of the tears that burn behind my masquerade
For I love you so much, but it’s not enough
I want you so much, but you’re not the one
Your thoughts tumble like a waterfall
Like a river rushing past the borders of my mind
And I can’t say the words, for I can’t speak at all
Of the resemblance that colors the you in my eyes
I see his face, read his expressions
I hear his words, take in his confessions
Where do you end, where does he begin?
(Or is it too close a call?)
What’s this maze, and is it what we’re stuck in?
(Or was it never there at all?)
You say it’s not a game
You say I’m not a piece you play
You say you won’t show me the way
I wish you’d stay
And I’m the only one you won’t manipulate
And you told me all the tricks of your trade
And I love you so much, I ignore the pain
Of the shackles you used to have me restrained
And the cutting edge forces me to jeopardize all
But I’ll make my bleeding fingers trace your jaw

All I remember is that frown on your face
But the words you would say were erased
All I recall are the tears that I cried
